Jesuit’s Ormsby commits to John Carroll

Jesuit senior Kevin Ormsby, a starter at center during the Tigers’ 11-2 campaign last fall, has made a verbal commitment to Division III school John Carroll University, Jesuit coach James Harrell said.

John Carroll is a co-educational Jesuit Catholic university in University Heights, Ohio. The Blue Streaks compete in the Ohio Athletic Conference and the football team plays in Don Shula Stadium, named after one of the school’s most famous alumni. The stadium opened in 2003. The Miami Dolphins coaching legend contributed to the stadium’s construction, as did another famous John Carroll graduate, Washington Redskins linebacker London Fletcher.

Ormsby started all season and made a total of 12 pancake blocks from center, one of the more difficult spots on the line to record that statistic.

John-Carroll has also made an offer to Jesuit quarterback Tommy Eveld, as has another Ohio Athletic Conference team, Marietta College. Eveld is making an official visit this weekend to the University of South Florida, which has offered him a preferred walk-on spot. Eveld also has a grey shirt offer from Western Kentucky.

Another Jesuit standout, offensive lineman Robert Gibbons, is visiting Georgia Southern this weekend.
