Jesuit senior pitcher Daniel Gibson, the state’s Class 4A player of the year, finished fourth in the voting for the 2010 Mr. Baseball Award, given annually by the Florida Dairy Farmers Association.
Pace senior pitcher/outfielder C.T. Bradford, who led the Patriots to the Class 5A state title with a title-game victory over Armwood, was the recipient of the 18th annual award.
Miami Westminster Christian’s David Thompson (Class 2A player of the year) and Hialeah American’s Javier Marticorena (Class 6A player of the year) finished second and third, respectively.
Gibson, The Tampa Tribune’s Baseball Player of the Year after going 14-1 and leading Jesuit to the Class 4A state title game, was fourth, followed by Deltona Trinity Christian’s Chino Vega (Class 1A player of the year) and Plantation American Heritage’s Brandon Sedell (Class 3A player of the year).
Pace coach Charlie Warner took home the state’s top coaching award. There were no local coaches on the final ballot.
