Jesuit’s Gibson collects third All-America honor

Jesuit left-handed pitcher Daniel Gibson has collected another All-America honor, this one coming from MaxPreps.com.

Gibson, who went 14-1 while leading the Tigers to the Class 4A state title game, was a second-team selection on the MaxPreps Baseball All-American Team.

Gibson, the Tribune’s Baseball Athlete of the Year, was previously named to the Louisville Slugger High School All-American Team and was a second-team selection on Baseball America’s High School All-American Team.

Gibson was the only local player on the MaxPreps squad. You can view the entire team HERE.

In other baseball news, former Brooks-DeBartolo outfielder Reggie Williams Jr., a 10th round pick by the St. Louis Cardinals in this year’s MLB draft out of Middle Georgia College, recently signed with the club, Phoenix coach Donnie Oliver said. Williams Jr. was assigned to the organization’s rookie-level affiliate in the Appalachian League.

Williams Jr. joins his younger brother, Jadamion, in professional baseball. Jadamion Williams, an infielder who was the Twins’ 10th round pick, previously signed and is playing with Minnesota’s rookie-level affiliate in the Gulf Coast League.
