Jefferson junior baseball player Steven Negron has ended the recruiting process fairly early.
Negron, penciled in as the Dragons’ starting shortstop this season, has verbally committed to USF, Jefferson coach Pop Cuesta said Friday.
Negron’s playing time was limited a bit last season as he was stuck behind former standout Chad Taylor, but Cuesta said Negron really turned it on over the summer and hit at a near .400 clip.
“He’s really a heck of a player,” Cuesta said. “He’s got a great pair of hands, he’s a tremendous defensive player, he’s a switch hitter and he can run.”
