Jefferson junior baseball player Jimmy Herget has verbally committed to USF, Dragons coach Pop Cuesta said Thursday.
Herget, a right-handed pitcher, went 5-3 with three saves over 13 appearances as a sophomore. He posted a 2.64 ERA over 51 innings pitched, and struck out 51 against 19 walks.
Herget’s biggest outing last season came in the Class 4A-District 9 title game, when he tossed a complete game to beat a nationally-ranked Jesuit squad that ended up finishing the year as the Class 4A state runner-up.
Herget is the second Dragons baseball player committed to the Bulls program. Senior shortstop Steven Negron also have given his verbal pledge and intends to sign with the Bulls during the early period in November.
