Jefferson’s Cruz makes pick

Jefferson senior baseball player Kevin Cruz has verbally committed to Alabama A&M, a Division I program, Dragons coach Pop Cuesta said Monday.
Cruz is a three-year starter and one of the Dragons’ most versatile players. He’s penciled in this season as the starting right fielder, but Cuesta said Cruz also can play some third base and has worked on his pitching as well and could see some time on the mound late in games this season.
Cruz is also one of the team’s top offensive weapons. He hit .350 last season, which was tops among Dragons starters, with four doubles and 10 RBIs.
