It’s over in Toronto.
The Bulls scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to beat Northern Illinois by a score of 27-3.
Running back Mike Ford carried 20 times for 207 yards and one touchdown. Quarterback B.J. Daniels was 14 of 22 for 217 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions. And the defense held the Huskies to 238 total yards.

Scott, while a win is good and a bowl win even better, a win against N. Illinois is nothing too exciting; especially way USF played for 3 quarters. Although a loss to Huskies would have been devistating to USF’s program. USF is lucky to have not played E. Carolina, Navy, Air Force, Wyoming or Texas Tech, as the Bulls’ offense would not have kept up. USF still lacks consistency and ability to adjust to what defense gives them. Improvements are needed before next season, or next year will be a big disappointment. Maybe a year of experience for Daniels and OL will make a difference, but I’m not real confident that USF operates an offense that can be a legitimate contender in the BE.

Don G:
I think your analysis is spot on about the questions that surround whether USF is reading to take the next step and win the Big East.
In the story I wrote for today’s Tampa Tribune, I pointed out that since joining the Big East five years ago, the Bulls are just 17-18 in conference play, 40-24 outside. A sub-.500 record in league play won’t cut it for a program interested in going where USF officials want to go.
Thanks for checking in.
