Is It Time For The 2009 Football Season?

Each year, I have anticipated the start of football season. It means the world to me to dress up as the character of Bucified and show my love and appreciation both for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but also for the fans. I was eagerly preparing for this year’s season when God placed a stumbling block before me: I lost my sister, and I’m trying to handle it in a Bucified fashion, My Fanatical Friends…

Words cannot express my gratitude for the wonderful caring e-mails, text messages and phone calls I received during my time of bereavement. A simple “thank you” seems inadequate.

It is a wonderful feeling to know so many of my colleagues, friends and students showed such sincere concern for the loss of my family member.

I get such joy out of being a positive role model for my Dear Mother, family, friends and students who love the character Bucified. It is your positive energy and support that have helped me remain strong during this time of grief.

After two ceremonies honoring my late mother, my sister was able to attend the program on May 6th of this year. She was able to share in the tradition of OLE IS ALIVE Scholarship presentation first-hand with her kids, making memories I will hold dear to my heart as I accept the physical void and spiritual connection …

Please know that I really appreciate the love that everyone has shown me, because it took some of the sting out of the farewell celebration of a life that ended too soon. It also helped me to be strong enough to give positive advice to some of my family members, to inoculate those pessimistic views that often exacerbate a terrible situation like death. I’m strong because of what I learned for the work I do for my Mother.

Thank you all so much. Forever I will remain indebted to each of you.

With your support and encouragement, I have been to face the future, as hopeful as ever for the upcoming season.

My Fanatical Friends joined me recently for a visit to One Buc Place for a tour, where I bumped into none other than Mortti Kiffin. I will highlight the details of our visit and share pictures with you on my next blog.

The 2009 football season is just around the corner and our new coach is gaining momentum. I am getting very excited over the new team and coach. On my visit to the Bucs Training Facility, I caught a sneak peek of what to look for during the season. I am READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL!
