Iron Knights

There’s been somewhat of a tradition with the Robinson High football team ever since Mike DePue joined the program as an assistant nearly three decades ago: Iron man football.

DePue, now is his seventh season as the Knights’ head coach, can recall countless players who stayed on the field as starters on both offense and defense. Some were gifted athletes who deserved to be on the field every play. Others simply were needed on both sides of the ball, pressed into double-duty because of lack of numbers.

This year is no different. Several 2009 varsity members will see action on both offense and defense, including the team’s leader, senior Quinton Preston, who starts on both lines. There is, however, a core group of talented juniors, one whom DePue thinks has the potential to be among the more special groups of two-way players during his tenure with the team.

You can read the rest of the story, which appeared in today’s South Tampa and Central Tampa zone sections, HERE.
