Now is usually the time that recruiting is heating up for senior football players, but that’s not necessarily the case out at Armwood, according to Coach Sean Callahan.
While some of Callahan’s seniors are receiving their fair share of interest - including defensive lineman Sergio Joyner and Josh Alston - the interest in the Hawks’ junior class of prospects in higher than ever before.
Standout linebacker Petey Smith and defensive lineman Ryne Giddins each have collected more offers than Callahan can count. The list of schools reads like a who’s who of college football programs - with the likes of Florida, Florida State, Miami, Ohio State and Tennessee all in the mix. But those aren’t the only juniors who are getting looks.
Callahan also noted there has been increased interest in quarterback Mywan Jackson, safety Angelo Hadley and linebacker Casey Callahan, the coach’s son. All are being looked at by various Division I programs, Callahan said.
