Wharton risng senior Jairus Jones picked up his seventh offer this week when Illinois decided to make a move on the standout strong safety.
LSU, Nebraska, Michigan State and Iowa are some of the other schools that have already offered the 6-foot-2, 210 pound defensive back.
Jones had 89 tackles last season with one interception on defense and at running back, rushed 60 times for 332 yards and three TDs.
Wharton coach David Mitchell said Buffalo is also very interested and may offer later this week.

Outstanding piece on Jarius.
Jarius Jones would be an excellent addition to the Illini secondary. His size alone would be an intimidating factor. And with the recent lost of RB Rashard Mendenhall to the NFL, he could possibly have a future at that position as well. I once wore the Orange and Blue of the Fighting Illini in the early 1980’s under Coach Mike White. It’s a great location and a terrific school to earn a degree. I wish Mr. Jones the best in his decision process.
