Montgomery LHP James Houser has been suspended 50 games for violating baseball’s drug policy.
With only 15 games left in Montgomery’s season, the Sarasota native’s ban will carry over to next year.
UPDATING with a bit more info. Houser is allowed to practice with his team but cannot dress out. He’ll remain with Montgomery for the balance of the Biscuits’ season. There is nothing specifically precluding Houser from playing in the Arizona Fall League, but I would be surprised if the Rays afforded him that opportunity after this.
The Rays’ only comment came in a one-line statement from minor-league director Mitch Lukevics:
“The Tampa Bay Devil Rays fully support baseball’s drug testing program, including the measures taken against James Houser.”
Earlier this season, Rays pitcher Juan Salas became the first major-leaguer to draw a 50-game ban for a positive test for performance-enhancing drugs.

Two things lacking in the team in my opinion is positive energy and tunnel vision. By that I mean the shoulders need to be up no matter what the situation on the field and especially walking to the plate. All the players need to have tunnel vision when facing the pitcher not just a few. I love the Rays and like to see their emotions.
