During Monday’s Big East coaches teleconference, USF coach Skip Holtz weighed in on the subject of conference realignment, saying there’s been a lot of speculation but adding the landscape is very unstable right now.
“Right now there’s so much speculation on what’s going to happen and how big are all these conferences are going to grow to be and who’s going to be where. I just think right now the landscape of college football is very unstable as far as who’s going to be in what conferences,” Holtz said. “I know that Judy (Genshaft) and Doug (Woolard) have been working hard, not only from a conference level but from a national level, to look at everything and what all the options are for everybody as it all unfolds.
“But for me, I’m a football coach. I’ve got my head buried in a bunker watching film on UTEP and FAMU and what we’re doing here. It’s just going to be interesting to see how it all unfolds, but right now I think everything is speculation. But it would not surprise me to see some more things fall or move here over the next couple of weeks.”

I have faith that USF will end up in a good place when all of this finishes. Remember Doug Woolard was the mastermind that got us into the Big East without paying any fees.
If I had to put my chips in. It would be that he will get us and maybe WVU into the ACC as 15 and 16 to close them out.

The last statement is intriguing. Does that mean he knows something, or is this just more statements that mean nothing other than “we’re trying to recover from this”?

Seems that UConn will be the 15th team to enter the ACC. They’ve had their tourney here in Tampa, does that get USF’s foot in the door as #16? UConn helps to make the basketball conference even more of a superpower but doesn’t add much for the football side. Maybe USF could do the opposite.
A Big East/Big 12 without Nebraska, Texas, or Oklahoma wouldn’t be a very exciting conference.
