Holtz reaching out to fans

One prominent state sports columnist called new USF football coach Skip Holtz the most media-friendly college football coach in the state last week.

Now Holtz is shooting for the most fan-friendly title.

USF announced this afternoon that Holtz is hosting a “The Inside Skip” town hall meeting on March 3 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Basically, show up at the Corral and you’ll be able to ask Holtz whatever questions you want about the team, his background, his favorite food, and whether he prefers boxers or briefs.

Holtz will also be signing autographs and taking pictures with fans. For more information, call USF’s athletic department at (813) 974-2125.

My question: What question would you most like to ask Holtz? Maybe I can answer it—although I have no clue if he prefers boxers or briefs.

I think it would be nice if nobody asks about his underwear. I also suppose that any info he would offer that would be of any interest to us would also be useful to our opponents, so I doubt we’ll get anything good. But maybe you could ask: how we gonna beat Florida? Or, it’s postgame, we just beat Florida - how did we do it? What will our record be after this season? How hard is it to teach a young QB to read a defense, and who does that task? After watching game tape, What are the three biggest areas that the existing team needs to do better? How long til we could beat UM?

All good questions Dan, certainly better than boxers or briefs smile ... personally, cool to see a coach be open like Holtz is…I’m tired of the robotic-type coaches like Saban and Meyer who seem to have lost some of the personality coaches like Bowden and Barry Switzer and Pete Carroll displayed
