Holtz makes good impression ... other tidbits

The Big East Football Media Day event is only a few hours away.

First, a couple of notes from tonight’s social function at the historic Eisenhower House overlooking the Narragansett Bay and Rhode Island Sound.

—Lots of chatter from league officials and media representatives about the different vibe around USF football with Skip Holtz as the new head coach. Holtz’s easy going personality and friendly demeanor haven’t gone unnoticed during his short time in the Big East.

—Holtz said the team will hold a short practice on Thursday to kick off fall camp instead of waiting until Friday to start practicing. The team reports on Wednesday.

—The Bulls will hold practices on campus Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday before heading over to Vero Beach to resume training camp on Monday. The Bulls are expected to remain in Vero Beach for 12 days before returning home.

—With the team going to Vero Beach, Fan Day is being rescheduled for Aug. 22 at Raymond James Stadium. It was originally planned for Aug. 14, but the team will be in Vero that day. As for the time, it will likely be from 2-5 p.m. USF is scheduled to practice until 1:30 that day as of now.
