Though his name continues to pop up as being a candidate for various openings, Skip Holtz indicated Sunday evening the sideline he will be standing on next season is the University of South Florida’s.
“I feel very comfortable that I’ll be the football coach” at USF in 2012, he said.
Holtz, 13-12 in two seasons at USF after a 5-7 mark this season, was previously linked to the opening at North Carolina and more recently to openings at Kansas and Illinois. At this point, he said, everything remains speculation and that his focus is with the Bulls.
“I am not scheduled to meet with anybody,” he said. “Those are not my intentions. I told this team, we’ve got something we’re trying to finish here right now. It was a frustrating year and we’ve got some things we still have to get done here.”
BULLS BITS: Reserve offensive lineman Tony Kibler, suspended indefinitely after his arrest on campus in October, will not return to the program. ... USF is tentatively scheduled to open spring practice March 3 and hold its final spring game April 14. Holtz said the Bulls may hold spring games at Raymond James Stadium and on campus like they did this year.
