Hillsborough junior defensive end/tight end Jordan Sherit landed his fourth Division I scholarship offer when Purdue University made him a pitch, Terriers head coach Earl Garcia said Friday morning.
The Boilermakers follow Duke University, the University of Miami and the University of South Florida who have made Sherit offers. Sherit is in Hillsborough’s International Baccalaureate program and Duke is arguably the most enticing offer for him academically. But considering Sherit’s teammate at running back/defensive back, Anthony Brown, has already made a commitment to Purdue, West Lafayette, Ind., could be a place of serious interest for Sherit.
Garcia calls the 6-foot-3, 225-pound Sherit “the complete package.” He has size, speed (a 40-yard dash time of 4.7 seconds) and one of the highest grade point averages on the team. Entering tonight’s game against Sickles, Sherit leads the Terriers in total tackles with 47, as well as sacks (three).
