Hillsborough High senior safety Terrence Mitchell, one of the area’s top recruits at defensive back, will take his next official visit to the University of Illinois next weekend, Terriers coach Earl Garcia said.

Garcia said Mitchell had planned to use one of his five official visits to the University of North Carolina but cancelled that trip in order to take on to Illinois.
“He’s passing it up to go to Illinois and a lot of that has to do with the fact [former Hillsborough star] that Jarred [Fayson] is there,” Garcia said.
The 5-foot-10, 160-pound Mitchell has always played safety for the Terriers his entire prep career but is being recruited as a cornerback by most schools. He has already taken official visits to Georgia and Tennessee and will take his final two trips to Florida State and the University of South Florida next month, Garcia said.
Most of the Southeastern Conference—including Florida—has also made an offer to Mitchell. Outside the SEC, he has offers from North Carolina, FSU, Miami, USF, Ohio State, Michigan, California, Penn State, Michigan State and Iowa State.
