Hillsborough junior linebacker/running back Nigel Harris suffered a broken collar bone as a result of a jarring hit he suffered from two Armwood defenders during Friday night’s loss to the Hawks, Terriers coach Earl Garcia confirmed.
After the hit, which came late in the second half, Harris was taken to the hospital where an X-ray revealed a broken left collar bone. The injury typically takes 6-8 weeks to heal, which means Harris will not be able to take part in the two prestigious combines he has been invited to, the U.S. Army All-American Game and Under Armour combines.
Harris was one of the Terriers’ leading tacklers this season but also saw regular duty on offense, as well as handling the punting chores. Harris was injured on a play where he caught a short pass out of the backfield but was sandwiched and hit immediately by Armwood lineman Beau Michel and linebacker Keionne Baines.
