Hillsborough junior linebacker Nigel Harris has received an offer from Purdue University, Terriers coach Earl Garcia announced Monday.
Harris, who has a grade point average of 3.8, also has offers from Vanderbilt and the University of Alabama-Birmingham and an invitation to participate in next month’s Junior Day at Louisiana State University, his father, Lindsey Harris said.
The 6-foot-2, 195-pound Harris sustained a broken collar bone in the last game of the season, a playoff loss to eventual state champion Armwood on Nov. 25. He has since made a full recovery and is expected to be able to be cleared to take part in spring drills.
Last season, Harris recorded 89 tackles and one sack. He also spent a considerable amount of time on offense and produced a combined 198 yards rushing and receiving. He was also the Terriers’ punter.
Purdue has already established a good connection at Hillsborough, landing a commitment from the Terriers’ top running back, Anthony Brown, last fall.
