The stock of Hillsborough senior quarterback Tarean Austin just went up again, this time with the University of Cinciannti.

Terriers coach Earl Garcia said Friday the Bearcats coaching staff called him to request video of Austin. In fact, Cincinnati’s staff wanted Garcia to overnight the package. Why? According to Garcia, Cincinnati has lost out on its No. 1 recruit at quarterback to Notre Dame and is now looking for another standout at the position.

If you look at Austin’s numbers from this past season, you’d understand why he’s gained the interest of the Bearcats. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Austin completed 116 passes on 213 attempts for 2,157 yards, 20 TDs and six interceptions. And last year, he threw for 1,598 yards, 17 TDs and sick picks.

This weekend, Austin is headed to Western Kentucky for an official visit. He’s already taken officials to Florida International and New Mexico. Garcia said Cincinnati has expressed “major interest” in Austin and said a visit there by his star quarterback is likely for next weekend.
