Hillsborough senior linebacker Rodney Williams, who suffered a strained ligament in his right foot in last week’s loss to Plant, will play in Thursday’s game against Chamberlain, Terriers coach Earl Garcia said late Wednesday.

Garcia says Williams had worked hard at rehabilitating the injured foot this week. And even though Williams is not 100 percent recovered, Garcia said the reason he will play Thursday is simple: Hillsborough needs him to win its first game of the season.
Williams injured the foot early in Friday’s showdown against longtime rival Plant and did not return to action. The Panthers won that game 20-13 to put Hillsborough at 0-2 for the first time since 1997.
Against Chamberlain, Hillsborough will be playing its home opener for the 2010 season. And to take full advanatge of the home field edge, Garcia said the Terriers are staging a “blackout,” sporting their all-black jerseys for only the third time ever.
