Hillsborough High principal Bill Orr told the Tampa Tribune on Thursday the school’s football team has won its appeal with the Florida High School Athletics Association and will not be charged with any recruiting violations.
The original charges by the FHSAA came nearly four months ago and regarded the attendance of a spring football practice by an incoming ninth grader at Hillsborough.
Orr said he, the student and the student’s father attended an FHSAA appeals hearing today in Bradenton, where the FHSAA was holding an area meeting. Shortly after the hearing, Orr was informed by FHSAA officials it was dropping all charges against the Terriers.
“We’re very happy this over and finally behind us,” Orr said. “It’s been a long process but it was worth it to see this through and clear our school.”
