LAKELAND—Greetings from Joker Marchant Stadium, a favorite venue of many who travel the Grapefruit League circuit. It’s looking like a gorgeous day for baseball.
The host Tigers are on teh field, and the Rays, no doubt dragging from the hour-forward time change, rolled in just a few minutes ago.
Right-hander Jeff Niemann gets the start today and is expected to as many as five or six innings if he doesn’t exceed his pitch count. The batting order is pretty stout for a spring road game:
Sean Rodriguez, RF
B.J. Upton, CF
Evan Longoria, 3B
Carlos Pena, 1B
Willy Aybar, 2B
Pat Burrell, DH
Reid Brignac, SS
Justin Ruggiano, LF
John Jaso, C
