Hawks rested and ready for Gorman—and 100-degree weather!

After getting into Las Vegas late Thursday night, the Armwood Hawks football team got a good meal, a solid night’s rest and are now heading to Bishop Gorman High for a walk-through prior to their nationally-televised game tonight on ESPN2.

Because of the late arrival, Armwood head coach Sean Callahan said his team didn’t get to bed until after 11 p.m. local time, or 3 a.m. Tampa time. As a result, he allowed the team to sleep in late this morning—something he didn’t plan—and then had a team breakfast at the hotel.

“After that long flight and the delays, they needed to rest and hydrate for the game,” Callahan said. “I think it was a good idea. They seem really rested and alert and ready for this game tonight.”

Hydration will be particularly important for the Hawks tonight. The expected high temperature in Las Vegas today is 107 degrees and at their 6 p.m. kickoff, the temperature is slated to be 105. True, the relative humidity is under 20 percent, but that’s still hot!

In comparison, Tampa’s prep games tonight are expected to be played in the mid-80s with humidity around 65 percent.
