Armwood likely will be without one of its top defensive backs Friday against King.
Hawks coach Sean Callahan said senior Khiry McQuay is doubtful for the district game against the Lions after suffering an ankle injury in the loss to Plant. McQuay suffered the injury during the first quarter while trying to pick up yardage on a return after intercepting a Phillip Ely pass. He was able to play the rest of the game but hasn’t been able to practice yet this week and is using crutches.
Callahan said the injury is just a sprain and McQuay likely would return the following week against Chamberlain if he is unable to go. A final determination will be made Wednesday; Callahan said he requires his players to practice Wednesday in order to play Friday.
On the season, McQuay has eight tackles and one interception.
