Saying he believes the move is in the best interest of his team, Armwood coach Sean Callahan has changed offensive coordinators.
Quarterbacks coach Evan Davis has been promoted to the role previously held by longtime Hawks assistant Chris Taylor, Callahan confirmed Wednesday morning.
Taylor, who has been on Callahan’s staff the past 13 years, was coordinator during the Hawks most successful run in program history and helped Armwood win consecutive state titles in 2003 and 2004.
Callahan said he offered Taylor the chance to remain on staff to coach the offensive line, and that he’s hopeful Taylor would remain with the team in that capacity.

Wow! Taylor out as OC. I’m shocked. Well it was probably going to happen as Callahan needed to make some changes. AHS has simply been manhandled in the playoffs the last few years and since Plant High School is now recognized as the best team in the county. Coach might want to take a look at other skill positions too including WR’s. Lots of drops and lazy routes. I wish them well in the upcoming season

Big mistake by Callahan. Taylor has done an incredible job at Armwood working for 14 years as a volunteer without pay. He’ll have his choice of head coaching jobs if he wants any of them.
