Armwood’s defense will be a bit shorthanded in a Thursday night matchup against Tampa Bay Tech.
Hawks coach Sean Callahan said Tuesday that starting middle linebacker Jake Zilbar is out indefinitely after an infection in his arm will require him to undergo surgery. And the bad news for Armwood is Zilbar isn’t the only Hawks linebacker hurting.
Junior Harvellio Buie, a starter at outside linebacker, is nursing a foot injury that he suffered during a Week 1 win over Newsome, but Callahan is confident he’ll be able to play against the Titans.
Callahan said he plans to slide junior Jermaine McKinney from his outside linebacker spot into the middle, and that sophomore Eric Striker will get the starting nod at the other outside linebacker position.
