It’s not every day a high school basketball player reaches 2,000 career points, let alone two within the same week.

On Tuesday in the Class 3A girls basketball state semifinals, Seffner Christian senior forward Tesha Hanson scored her 2,000th career point. The Crusaders lost to Miami Country Day, 60-51, and Hanson finished the game with 14 points before fouling out late in the fourth quarter .

Hanson ended her career with 2,001 points. Just off the top of my head, only a few girls basketball playersin recent memory—Gina Messina (Holy Names, 2007), surpassed 2,000 points. Also, Seffner Christian sophomore Peyton Walker also reached a milestone during the tournament, as she went over 1,000 career points in her short career. She now stands at 1,001 points.

Chamberlain boys basketball player Reggie Hart, whose team was eliminated in the region semifinals by St. Petersburg on Tuesday, scored his 2,000th point in the region quarterfinal win over Seminole. Hart ended his career with 2,020 points and became only the 13th player in Hillsborough County history to reach 2,000 career points. Hart moved into the 10th spot on the list, surpassing former King and current USF forward Toarlyn Fitzpatrick.
