Jesuit High’s James Harrell announced Monday he is stepping down as head football coach. Brian McNulty, assistant athletic director and an assistant football coach, will be the interim head coach

In his three seasons at Jesuit, Harrell posted a 28-6 record, including 7-3 this season. The Tigers won the district title twice, but failed to make the playoffs this season in tough Class 5A-District 8.

“I’m very proud of what we were able to accomplish in my three seasons at Jesuit,’’ Harrell said. “I took the program as far as I could take it. It’s time for someone else to come in and see if they can take them the next step. I wish them the best of luck moving forward.”

Harrell says he is exploring other coaching opportunities.  From spring through the fall, Harrell said there were 105 colleges who sent coaches to Jesuit to scout Tigers players.
