Tesha Hanson, the star on Seffner Christian’s state final four team this past season, has transferred to Riverview.
Seffner Christian athletic director Andy Holmes confirmed the transfer. Hanson joins one of the top returning players in Hillsborough County, Faith Woodard.
Hanson, an incoming junior and a Tampa Tribune All-Hillsborough County first team selection, led Hillsborough County in scoring last season with 24.7 points per game. After transferring to Seffner Christian following a standout freshman season at Wharton, Hanson helped the Crusaders make school history by advancing to the Class 1A state semifinals for the first time.
The Crusaders fell to Trinity Christian Academy in the semifinals. Hanson led the team with a game-high 29 points and 10 rebounds.
With that addition, the Sharks lose two by subtraction. Riverview coach Lelani Gordon said starters Jessica Causey and Justina James will not be returning to Riverview and have transferred to Faith Baptist. Both were big post players for the Sharks. Gordon said she has depth inside, but she’s losing valuable experience in both seniors.
