PITTSBURGH We’ve reached halftime at Heinz Field, and No. 16 USF is still behind in its nationally-televised Thursday night matchup with Pittsburgh.
Panthers running back Ray Graham has 102 yards rushing in the first half and helped give Pitt a lead at the break with a 13-yard touchdown run at the 1:43 mark of the second quarter.
USF was able to put a scoring drive together before halftime, thanks to a big 42-yard pass play from B.J. Daniels to Sterling Grffin. It helped set up a 34-yard Maikon Bonani field goal that brought USF back within three.
Daniels was 8-for-14 for 106 passing yards in the opening half. He also rushed for a team-high 39 yards. USF running backs Darrell Scott and Demetris Murray, who capped an 80-yard scoring drive in the second quarter with a 7-yard touchdown run, both have 36 yards on the ground.
