TAMPA USF is well on its way to a victory in its 2011 home opener.
The No. 22 Bulls have thoroughly dominated visiting Ball State in opening up a 30-0 halftime lead Saturday night at Raymond James Stadium.
Led by quarterback B.J. Daniels, USF outgained Ball State, 386-76, in the first half. Daniels completed 24 of 31 passes for 289 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
But as good as the offense has been moving the ball, the unit has struggled to finish drives. The Bulls had to settle for field goal attempts on four of their six trips into the red zone, and their last trip
just before the break resulted in nothing when Maikon Bonani’s field goal attempt was blocked.
Bonani made good on his other three kicks in the first half, though, and in doing so pulled even with Santiago Gramatica’s career made field goals mark of 38.
