While Armwood junior linebacker Petey Smith and junior defensive lineman Ryne Giddins are considered some of the state’s most sought-after recruits, a third member of the Hawks defense is garnering his fair share of attention as well, according to Hawks coach Sean Callahan.
That third member would be junior defensive back Angelo Hadley.
“Angelo’s stock is going through the roof,” Callahan said.
The latest schools to offer Hadley, a Tribune All-Hillsborough County first-team selection in 2007, include Ohio State, Tennessee and Central Florida, Callahan said.
Quarterback Mywan Jackson also picked up his second offer, from UCF. Jackson previously received an offer from North Carolina.
Two other juniors, offensive lineman Justin Cabbagestalk and linebacker Casey Callahan, the coach’s son, also have seen their recruitment pick up, though neither has landed his first offer yet.
In addition, Callahan said several of his seniors have entered into discussions with colleges as a result of last weekend’s recruiting fair at East Bay. Cambridge Christian senior linebacker Erik Shears is also in that situation.
Shears, a first-team all-state selection as a senior, received an offer from Division II Quincy University at the recruiting fair and is scheduled to make an official visit to the campus this weekend, according to Lancers coach Rick Shears, also Erik’s father.
