The Pasco County quarterbacking news isn’t all about Land O’ Lakes junior Stephen Weatherford.
Pasco High QB Jacob guy was given a mention in an ESPN Rise article mentioning sleepers at this weekend’s EA Sports Elite 11 regional camp at Orlando’s Wide World of Sports Complex.
The excerpt reads: “Several underclassmen also had good days Sunday including Plant City’s Bennie Coney, Pasco’s Jacob Guy, Miami Northwestern’s Elgin Hilliard, Dr. Phillips’ Nick Patti and Lassiter (Ga.) rising sophomore Eddie Printz.”
If all goes to plan, Guy, a sophomore, will take the reigns of the Pirates offense from three-year starter D.J. Clower, who is headed to North Carolina A&T this fall. In three games, Guy completed 13 of 19 passes for 159 yards and one TD. His time was limited after having a pin placed in his non-throwing hand at the beginning of the season.
Guy appeared to be in contention at Zephyrhills for the starting job – even over his older brother Tyler Guy – following their 2009 spring football game. But after Tyler Guy was demoted from quarterback by former coach Jerrell Cogmon, the Guy brothers transferred. Tyler went to Freedom and Jacob went to Pasco.
