Gulf two-way standout lineman Jeff Kruse has received his first official offer from Eastern Michigan, according to a text message sent Sunday morning.
“I had an awesome trip and I am just very happy to earn my first offer,” Kruse said of the trip to the Ypsilanti, Mich. campus. “My family and I are just very excited right now and can’t wait to see what’s in store to come.”
The senior cog, who’s been one of the Buccaneers’ starting guards on varsity since he was a freshman, is receiving interest from several Ivy League schools including Princeton, which he visited last weekend, and Harvard. Kruse maintains a grade-point average well above 4.0 and is in Gulf’s International Baccalaureate program.
Though Gulf fell below expectations in the regular season as a team, finishing with a 2-8 record, Kruse anchored the offensive and defensive front and demanded double teams at defensive tackle. The 6-foot-3, 280-pound prospect will need to bulk up to 300-pounds at a D-I school and likely play guard that next level.
