Joey Galloway has Jon Gruden’s sympathy. Now, all he needs is Gruden’s confidence.
Tampa Bay’s veteran WR didn’t dress Sunday at Atlanta, marking the first time in Galloway’s five-year Buc career that he was declared inactive while healthy.
Galloway was active at Carolina in the previous game, but failed to get on the field.
After three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons, the 37-year-old speedster has been an after-thought for most of the year. He came into training camp with a groin injury and has also dealt with a broken foot that has limited Galloway to 12 receptions this season for 134 yards and no TDs.
While Galloway’s production has plunged, Antonio Bryant is flourishing with a team-high 74 catches for 1,044 yards and six scores.
“I wouldn’t say he (Galloway) is not one of our best receivers,’’ Gruden said Monday. “The versatility issues are part of our problem and special teams plays into the decision. He’s a split end and Antonio is a split end. I’ll leave it at that. He’s a friend of mine. I love the guy and I’m sick for the fact he’s not a part of this. He’s had a lot of injuries this year and Antonio Bryant has played extremely well.’‘

I think Joey feels for Gruden and how he has tore this team down. Indecision on a Qb, abandoning the run game for a passing game that never happened, the crappy draft picks, a offense that confuses itself and a old woreout defense. I think Joey made out well. Gruden should leave with Kiffin and go to Tennessee, PLEASE!! I have been a fan for over 20 years and proud until this year. Thanks Allen and Gruden!

Wow, I think (except for Eddie) the problem is that these are out-of-state(more like out-of-minds) guys commenting.

hey erik, only 3 starter on defense are over 30(real old i know). with exception to jackson and clayton what busts were there? 11 starters are players drafted by the bucs since 02. 6 on offense and 5 on defense and an undrafted rookie probowler. also the offense is ranked the highest ever this year at 13th. i guess you werent watching the games for the last 20 years. i hope this year has ended any type of claim as a fan of the bucs because we do not want or need you. cheer for the squeelers
