University of South Florida quarterback Matt Grothe suffered an apparent left knee injury with 2:54 remaining in the second quarter of the Bulls’ game against Charleston Southern tonight at Raymond James Stadium.

Grothe’s left knee buckled when he was tackled by Charleston Southern defensive tackle David Jackson and defensive back Antwain Harvey.

Grothe could not put any pressure on his left leg and was helped off the field by two USF trainers and taken to the locker room.

USF led 28-0 when Grothe was injured. He was 11 of 14 for 149 yards and two touchdowns and carried five times for 24 yards.

Last week, Grothe became the Big East’s all-time leader in total offense.
