TAMPA – Rookie Cody Grimm will replace Tanard Jackson as the Bucs starting free safety when the Bucs face the Steelers at Raymond James Stadium on Sunday, Bucs coach Raheem Morris said.
“He’s the next guy on our depth chart,’’ Morris said. “He’s the backup free safety and he’s played well, played hard. This is his chance.’’
Jackson was suspended indefinitely by the NFL for violating the league’s substance abuse policy on Wednesday.
Grimm played his college ball at Virginia Tech and was a seventh-round choice (210th overall) of the Bucs this year.
He played exclusively on special teams during the first two games but did see action at safety in the preseason.
