Bucs Report
Griese Back To Bucs?

TAMPA - There’s talk in NFL circles tonight that Tampa Bay may once again be the landing place for quarterback Brian Griese.

Griese is expected to be released before the Bears have to pay him a $300,000 signing bonus on March 4, and the Bucs are believed to be one of the teams interested in rescuing him from the unemployment line.

This isn’t the kind of deal that gets anyone excited but it does make some sense for the Bucs. After all, Griese does know their system rather well, having played in 17 games for them between 2004 and 2005.

And he’s a veteran, and I think we all realized last year that the best thing for the Bucs, at least under Coach Jon Gruden, is to have a veteran at quarterback.

In other Bucs free-agent related news, the team has opened contract dialogue with the agents for both TE Alge Crumpler and DT Rod Coleman, but the talks haven’t gone very far.

Both players, in fact, continue to look at other teams. Crumpler is looking at the Titans while Coleman spent Thursday visiting the Panthers. But with $40 million worth of cap space the Bucs can compete for both players with anyone.

GRIESE NO NO NO - MAKES BAD DECISIONS. Luke’s OK as Jeff backup. SIGN OCHO CINCO for 1st Rounder. Deep threat takes pressure off the QB, Galloway and the O line. HOW CAN YOU LOSE!

He might complete 70 percent of his passes ,its what he does with the other 30 percent . Did you not see last year he did the same thing to the Bears he did to the Bucs . Have a great three quarters and not be able to pull it out in the end most of the time throwing the interception late in the game. Their is a reason he has played for the
Broncos, Dolphins , Bucs and Bears its because he is turnover prone. He would be a waste of money

Brian completes 70 percent of his passes. He makes good on the field decisions. He should not have been let go from the Bucs in the first place, as he clearly outplayed Chris Simms, but was given up as he was more expensive. Now he can come back and play well again in Gruden’s system, where he seemed to thrive.

Why sign a turnover waiting to happen .
Time to move forward not bring back a Qb that can’t stop throwing that killer interception or fumble at the wrong time . Let him go and continue to work with our young QB s .

I would like to see the Bucs bring in a top WR, and a top CB. Getting those in free agency and a good draft class we could be set up nicely for a Super Bowl return.
