ARLINGTON, Texas – Jonny Gomes has dropped his appeal of the five-game suspension handed down by Major League Baseball yesterday and will begin serving his ban tonight.
The Rays said there was a chance the suspension could be reduced to four games, but it will remain the same and he will serve five games.
Otherwise, it’s another blazing hot and humid day here at the Ballpark as Andy Sonnanstine tries to pick up his first win since May 16. The Rays could move back into first place with a victory and a Red Sox loss today.
