Godfrey says USF commitment a “misunderstanding’’

Miami Central QB Jeffrey Godfrey added some fuel to the fire on Monday in the rivaly between USF and UCF football fans.
After verbally committing to USF last week—at least that’s the way USF understood it—Godfrey told the Orlando Sentinel on Monday that he has committed to UCF.
“They thought I was coming to USF but I made up my mind to go to UCF,” Godfrey told the Sentinel. “Just in talking with the coach I think I have a better chance going in to have a starting position at UCF and getting a great education.”

ACtually, the USF scout.com site has specific comments about his verbal to USF. There was no misunderstanding, he just changed his mind or pulled off classless stunt if his intent was to attend UCF all along.
Grats to UCF, but let’s make sure we set the record straight. In addition, I am sure UCF’s staff used the fact that we have a potential superstar returning for his sophomore year in BJ Daniels and a 4-star QB recruit in Brion Carnes. I guess Godfrey is afraid of competition and UCF benefited from having no talent at the QB position. The real ‘gert’ is Reese….if he is eligible.

It sux but oh well. If Blackwell stays healthy, the guy would never see the field, and he knew it. Reminds me of a certain guy who was gonna transfer colleges because he was behind a really good QB. His coach said, well you can do that, but once you start quitting it’s hard to stop. Stay here, learn and grow, and be ready. That would be Vinny Testaverde, behind Bernie Kosar at UM. It worked out pretty good for them - they weren’t afraid of competition.

Was watching a Mississippi or Alabama high school all-star game and some huge lineman announced during or after the game that instead of attending Louisville or a few others schools (forget which) he would attend USF. Guy was a monster…..know anything about who that was and is he any good?

that player was Quinterrius Eatmon, a 6-6, 320-pound offensive lineman from Prichard, Ala. He is one of the six verbal commitments USF has received in the past nine days (back to five with Godfrey changing to UCF).

Thanks Scott….did you see the announcement?? For those who didn’t, he was standing there with his mother and the announcer suggested that he was considering 3 schools like Louisville, S. Carolina and Mississippi State…and now was the time to make his choice and tell the world….and then he blurts out SOUTH FLORIDA. He is big for sure…hope he is a player. Lord knows we need to get better.
