New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi and Jennie Finch of USA Softball were the featured guests at USF’s fourth annual Leadoff Banquet on Thursday night at the Embassy Suites near campus.

According to USF officials, the event was sold out and a huge success as Finch and Girardi participated in a question-and-answer session and spoke to the USF softball and baseball teams.
Girardi arrived in town earlier this week for the start of spring training as the Yankees open their quest to repeat as World Series champions.
He also delivered a message to the USF baseball team, which opens the season tonight at Florida.
“I spoke at the Louisville banquet last year and they won the Big East championship,’’ he said. “No pressure guys, but don’t let me down.’’
