Gilchrist gets team MVP nod

Junior forward Augustus Gilchrist, who led the USF men’s basketball team in scoring and was second in rebounding in 2010-11, was named the Bulls season MVP on Monday night at the team’s end of the year banquet.

Gilchrist averaged 13.4 points and 6.0 rebounds for the Bulls, who finished 10-23 on the season. His numbers were slightly better in Big East Conference play (14.5 points, 6.2 rebounds), which featured matchups against 11 nationally-ranked opponents.

The team’s lone senior, forward Jarrid Famous, also took home some hardware, including the team’s Academic Achievement Award. Famous is scheduled to graduate in May with a degree in interdisciplinary social sciences.
