Giants select ex-Bulls LB Williams

Linebacker Jacquian Williams became the third University of South Florida player to be selected in the 2011 NFL Draft, going to the New York Giants in the sixth round with the 202nd overall pick.
Williams, who played high school football locally at Riverview, led the Bulls with 71 tackles in 2010 and was a second team All-Big East selection. He was the second USF player selected in the sixth round, joining defensive back Mistral Raymond (Minnesota Vikings; 170th overall).
It is the second consecutive year the Giants have drafted a USF product. New York selected defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul in the first round in 2010.
“I love the game of football and I’m blessed beyond all measures to have the chance to play in the NFL,” Williams said in a USF press release. “I felt like I did everything I could to put myself in this position, so seeing all that hard work payoff is great. I think my best football is ahead of me and I’m going to continue to work as hard as I can to make my family and the Giants organization proud.”
