BOSTON— Joe Maddon just announced the dress theme for the Rays next road trip—Loudmouth pants.
Think John Daly, which is what Maddon wants the Rays to think when selecting their pants.
“BRaysers optional,” Maddon said.
The theme is in honor of Pants Rowland, the manager of the 1917 Chicago White Sox, who are the only team to be no-hit twice in a season and still win the World Series.
Maddon hopes to become the second manager to make that claim.
The official name of the trip, a four-game trip to New York to play the Yankees, is the “Loudmouth Pants Rowland Road Trip.”
