Hillsborough defensive end Jordan Sherit, a first team, all-Hillsborough County selection last fall by the Tampa Tribune, is arguably one of the area’s top college recruits for the 2013 class. And the type of football programs recruiting him proves it.
This time, the 6-foot-4, 230-pound Sherit landed his 11th and 12th college scholarship offers from Division I schools when Georgia Tech and Purdue made him pitches, Terriers coach Earl Garcia announced Monday.
Tech and the Boilermakers join the University of Connecticut, the University of Central Florida, South Carolina, Auburn, Purdue, Duke, Miami, Vanderbilt and the University of South Florida who have made Sherit offers.
Sherit, an honors student enrolled in Hillsborough’s International Baccalaureate program, this season recorded team-highs in tackles (110) and sacks (9), both of which were among the top numbers in the county.
