Gator running backs Chris Rainey and Jeff Demps aren’t getting all the attention this season. The Southeastern Conference named senior defensive tackle Jaye Howard the SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week.
Howard played an all-around standout effort in a 48-10 victory over Kentucky last Saturday. He recorded three tackles, a pass breakup and recovered a fumble for a touchdown. He led a defense that held the Wildcats to 4-of-17 on third downs and 0-for-5 on fourth downs.
This honor isn’t Howard’s first this season. He was named Co-Defensive Lineman of the Week in week one. He and his Gators have limited opponents to 56.5 rushing yards per game and 9.0 points per game.
