Matt Garza became the first Rays pitcher to go three innings this spring, doing so with relative ease against the a visiting split-squad Pirates team today at Charlotte Sports Park.
Garza allowed three hits and struck out five during his second outing of the spring.
He left with the Rays up 1-0 thanks to a sacrifice fly to center field by Ben Zobrist in the first inning that scored Jason Bartlett.
