TAMPA - Quarterback Jeff Garcia is back on the Bucs injury list. This time it’s a sprained right pinky that’s put him there. Don’t be too concerned. Garcia certainly isn’t.
“I actually sprained it in the one exhibition game I played,’’ Garcia said. “My hand came down on someone’s shoulder pad and I sprained it. But it’s fine really. It’s not a problem at all. I don’t even know why it would be an issue.’‘
NFL teams are required to notify the league of all injured players. Since Garcia has a slightly swollen right pinky he’s on the list. He hasn’t been limited at practice, though, so no one with the Bucs seems concerned about the injury.
As far as other injury news, there really isn’t much to tell you. It looks like Davin Joseph (foot) will be the only player listed as out for the game. Everyone else should be ready to go, including WR Antonio Bryant (knee), WR Michael Clayton (chest) and FS Sabby Piscitelli (knee).
We’ll get the official injury report around 4 p.m. If there’s anything alarming there, we’ll let you know but right now it looks as though the biggest concern Coach Jon Gruden has regards what healthy players he’ll have to scratch on Sunday.
We’re already pretty sure that RB Michael Bennett will be one of those who doesn’t dress. There could be a receiver in that group, too, because Dexter Jackson has earned his way onto the field for the opener. Said Gruden on Friday when asked about Jackson, “He’ll be up; based on what he did last week.’‘
For those who might have missed it, Jackson returned a punt 83 yards for a touchdown and had a 23-yard kickoff return to his own 26 to start the final preseason game against Houston. He’ll return kicks and punts against the Saints and if another wideout is scratched, he could even see time at receiver.

why on earth would they not have bennett in the line up? im alittle worried about that call…

I like Michael Bennett a lot too, but if you don’t start and you don’t play special teams it is hard to activate you. The rosters are so tight in the NFL that hard decisions have to be made.

I don’t know why Gruden is not starting Bennett!! He is starting two fullbacks, when Mike Alstott was playing, he never used him!! Why not start Bennett and scratch one of the fullbacks??? Doing good in preseason doesn’t mean anything to Gruden, just ask Graham!! He didn’t use him until all other backs were hurt!!

james, the 2nd fullback is on the roster strickly for special teams. Bennet isnt on our special teams.
Suggest removalPor (KBA) on September 05, 2008 (Suggest removal)
We have 2 fullbacks dressing but B.J. just came off of having knee surgery 3 weeks ago which is why we had to have a 2nd fullback active. That is the other reason why Bennett isn’t dressing.
Having 3 solid RB’s is a good problem to have but it’s hard for me to believe, that with Bennet’s speed, he isn’t one of them dressing and playing tonight.
It’s a long season though and guys get banged up quickly so I imagine he will get his chance sooner than later in this season.

We’re suiting up receivers who won’t see the field. Drop one of them, Jon G., & put Michael Bennett in there!

I love all the talk about how many backs the Bucs have. Bennett has a terrible case of the injury bug. Dunn is so stellar the Falcons let him walk and Cadillac has a flat. You have to hope Graham can be what he was last year and more seeing as how the White Tiger has been declawed and Bryant and Clayton are dinged. Bryant has speed going for him and thats about it. With a sore knee it really negates what he is good at.

The Garcia issue is not even worth commenting on, even the most tried and true Bucs fan has to know hes good for 8 games at most….

I also like M. Bennett, tough call though since the return of Dunn. Lets hope Dunn still has something left in the tank. Are we going to active all the QB’s?? and which receiver do you not dress? Let’s hope we have a better showing than the skins…

CaliSaint is so funny, he actually thinks we care about his lack of insight! HAHAHAHA! Go ahead and talk your smack; we are deep at every position and I just hope you’re not a 49’ers fan because, now that is a team without talent. We’re deep enough at RB to sit pro-bowl talent. Go figure.

We are deep at every position, but sometimes the play calling makes me think were too conservative. Hey, lets not forget that Gruden is a genius and one of the best coaches in the NFL (my ars). And he kept Clayton who can only block, never used Alstott who was a heck of a back, and now he wont play our fastest back and former pro-bowler Bennett who showed us that he has it. I could go on and on about the decisions they make. And I honestly dont think that Garcia will be back next year because of the Favre situation, etc. Yeh he is older, more fragile but now he has a respectable o-line but it means nothing if he doesn’t wanna play here.

The time is here ! Make sure you don’t go run and hide Sunday evening…lol Thats okay..I don’t blame you if you do. I can not wait till Sunday afternoon. I don’t care if we only win 2 games this season as long we shut the Aints out.

Remember when Graham used to be called Mr. August? It was because he played so uch in the preseason games and set the field on fire. Didn’t make him a starter until all the injuries. Bennet looked great vs. reserves. Heck, he ran all over the Bucs reserves. That doesn’t mean he’s better than Graham vs. regular season starters. Think!

CaliBrees, can you say red headed step child. Now that we have a few scrapes & bruises, I need to change my prediction from Bucs 31-10 Aints to Bucs 35 - 6 Aints. Arghhhhh!!!

I remember that game way back when Tampa made a bold statement in the NFL on opening gameday. That game was against San Francisco. We knocked out two of the games most prolific players because of hard hitting. Steve Young was never the same after that, and Jerry Rice was rocked. I think the same could happen tomorrow at 12PM CST against the New Orleans Aints. Tampa Bay’s Defense will have a coming out party tomorrow against a team that sorely wishes it didn’t lose it’s Oline anchor to it’s biggest division rival.
I don’t know how New Orleans will deal with the shock of Hurricane Ike after that big of a loss, and losing Brees for a few weeks from a R. Barber CB Blitz!

Can’t wait to see Marques catch one over the middle with a high jump and get cut in half by Tanard Jack you Up Jackson! The ball will fly up and P. Buchanon will pick it out of the air…
All sorts of smelling salts will be on the New Orleans bench…
New Orleans can’t handle this kind of shock only a year removed from the infamous fumbled-trick play-handoff and only a few from the devastating Katrina… The fans will cry tomorrow in New Orleans… No one can rescue you now… You wish this wasn’t happening, and you wish you didn’t talk trash on our website, but hindsite will be 20/20 as they say. You will be this years Falcons, mark it folks, it’s true…
